1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the website joinstageone.com (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

These Terms are a binding legal agreement between you and Stage One Inc. ("we," "us," "our"), a corporation registered in Ontario, Canada.

2. Description of Service

Stage One is a web-based hiring marketplace that allows job seekers ("Candidates") to send audio introductions ("Pitches") to verified industry professionals ("Referrers").

  • For Candidates: We provide a platform to record and transmit audio messages to specific Referrers.
  • For Referrers: We provide a platform to receive and review incoming audio messages.

Important Disclaimer: Stage One is not an employment agency, recruiting firm, or headhunter. We do not guarantee that using the Service will result in a job offer, an interview, or a referral. We act solely as a technology facilitator for professional introductions.

3. Accounts & Registration

  • LinkedIn Login: To access the Service, you must register using your LinkedIn credentials. You grant us permission to access strictly necessary profile information (Name, Headline, Photo) to verify your professional identity.
  • Accuracy: You agree that your profile information is accurate and truthful. Impersonating another person or misrepresenting your current employment status is a violation of these Terms and will result in an immediate ban.
  • Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account. You notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

4. User Conduct (The "No Harassment" Policy)

Since Stage One utilizes voice recordings, we have a zero-tolerance policy for abuse. You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Harass or Abuse: Transmit any audio that contains hate speech, threats, sexual harassment, profanity, or discriminatory language.
  • Spam: Send solicitation for commercial services, multi-level marketing, or anything unrelated to a genuine job inquiry.
  • Fraud: Falsely imply a connection to a company you do not work for (for Referrers) or claim qualifications you do not possess (for Candidates).

Enforcement: We reserve the right to review audio content upon a report of abuse. Violation of these rules will result in immediate account termination without refund.

5. Payments & Refunds

  • Pitch Tokens: Candidates purchase "Tokens" or pay a fee to send Pitches. This payment serves as a "Platform Access Fee" to filter spam and facilitate the technology.
  • The 3-Day Response Guarantee: We value your time. If a Referrer does not respond to your Pitch within 3 days (72 hours) of delivery, the Token used for that Pitch will be automatically returned to your account balance. You may use this returned Token to pitch another Referrer.
  • No Cash Refunds: Refunds under the "3-Day Response Guarantee" are issued strictly as Tokens (platform credits). We do not issue cash refunds to your credit card except in cases of technical billing errors.
  • Payment Processing: All payments are processed securely via Stripe. We do not store your credit card information.

6. Intellectual Property & Content Rights

  • Your Content: You retain ownership of the audio recordings and profile data you upload. By sending a Pitch, you grant Stage One a license to store, process, and transmit that audio to the intended recipient.
  • Our Content: The Stage One logo, visual design, software code, and "Stage One" name are the exclusive property of Stage One Inc. You may not copy or use our branding without permission.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • "As Is" Basis: The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
  • No Liability for Outcomes: Stage One is not liable for any employment decisions, hiring outcomes, or missed opportunities resulting from your use of the Service.
  • Cap on Damages: Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms shall not exceed the total amount you paid to Stage One in the past six (6) months.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties, or for any other reason.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in Ottawa, Ontario.
